Becoming enlightened by metaphors

So I've been reading a lot of books lately. Yay for me right! And to top that off there not just some trashy romance novels that give you your pleasure for the day and make you feel depressed you don't have some fictitious Romeo type man that doesn't exist! The books have been love stories, but spiritual love stories. Man and woman love, man and God love, and woman and God love. It's been amazing to see how an author takes this small portion from the Bible (Hosea, Tamar, Ruth, and Rahab) and turn it into this topsy turvy love song. This author that I speak of is Francine Rivers. If you have not read any of her work....you're completely missing out.
Right now I'm in the middle of Redeeming Love. She takes the book of Hosea and plans it out into a love story about Micheal Hosea and his prostitute love Angel (or Amanda and Sarah). I was flabbergasted the first few chapters at how horrible life can be for some people and putting my own life into perspective. Then the love story started to unfold...and of course just like every other woman/girl/young adult would do I dreamed of a day when my Micheal Hosea would fight for me, sweep me off my feet, and make me my own wind chimes. I was loving it so much that I thought I should read the book of Hosea. She based the story off that book so I may want to read it! Bam!!! Lightening strike: it's all just a metaphor! God wants to show you you're just like the prostitute *not literally I hope* and all he wants to do is fight for me and sweep me off my feet, and quite possibly build me my own wind chimes. I was mesmerized as  I read that book of the Bible and now as I finish the Redeeming Love that's all I can think about!

Romance isn't all flowers and candy...it's about someone who will stand by your side for always, listen to even the most SPASTIC of complaints, give you guidance on what to do, and most of all fight for you b/c you are worth it! That romance can be with me and God...wow...how's that for a Valentine's date!
